I Didn't Know I Could Love David Ross Any More Than I Already Do, And Then I Watched This Mini Doc On His Game 7 Home Run
It’s a good thing we have the resources to appropriately preserve history because otherwise David Ross would slowly evolve into some mythical legend that no one believed ever existed. Backup catcher last AB of his career blasting one of the most improbably home runs in postseason history.
At the same time, I hate bringing this up in the light of David Ross Wasn’t A Good Hitter.
That’s trash.
Rossy slugged .446 in 2016 which for context was better than: Andrew McCutchen, DJ LeMahieu, Eric Hosmer, Mitch Moreland, Buster Posey, etc. You get the point, which is David Ross belonged in the batter’s box.
The improbable part here is that it came against the 2016 version of Andrew Miller, arguably the most dominant version of any reliever since Eric Gagne in the early 2000’s.
Speaking of which, quick pit stop on some LOL reliever numbers at the height of the steroid era:
Specifically, here’s the last 20 appearances from Andrew Miller prior to Game 7
I repeat: Andrew Miller was turning MLB hitters into Jon Lester for a solid 2 months heading into that AB.
Hopefully this clears up any confusion as to why Chicago is obsessed with David Ross.
